TOKYO, May 30,  (V7N) – Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus today urged the global youth to form "Three Zero Clubs" to combat environmental and social crises, warning that the current global civilization is pushing the planet toward destruction.

“The civilisation we are building today is a self-destructive civilisation that will kill the planet,” Prof Yunus said in a lecture at Soka University in Tokyo.

The "Three Zero" Mission

Prof Yunus outlined his Three Zero theory, calling for a world with:

Zero carbon emissions

Zero wealth concentration

Zero unemployment

He emphasized that excessive profit-maximization and growing wealth inequality are endangering both humanity and the environment. “The majority of the world’s wealth is now in the hands of a very few people. This wealth concentration is a curse for all,” he stated.

Youth Mobilization: The Role of ‘Three Zero Clubs’

Calling on young people to be the change agents, Prof Yunus proposed the formation of ‘Three Zero Clubs’ – groups of five or more committed individuals who pledge to:

Avoid the use of fossil fuels

Promote social entrepreneurship

Uphold creative and sustainable living

“An effort to get a job takes people away from creativity,” he said, underscoring his belief that humans are born to be entrepreneurs, not job seekers.

“If you do not have creativity, you are nothing... Every human being has creativity.”

He encouraged students to use imagination as a tool for transformation:

“Imagination gives you the power to unleash yourselves.

On the occasion, Prof Yunus received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Soka University, in recognition of his global contributions to social innovation and development.

Soka University President Yasunori Suzuki also spoke at the event, praising Prof Yunus for his pioneering work in microcredit and his enduring impact on global poverty reduction and social entrepreneurship.
