Bangladesh has strongly condemned Israeli actions aimed at forcibly removing individuals from Gaza and has demanded an immediate ceasefire, as well as full and unimpeded access to humanitarian aid.

Mohammad Tofazzel Hossain Miah, Principal Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office, made these statements during an International Labour Organization (ILO) Governing Body meeting on Wednesday.

Hossain emphasized that achieving the full implementation of the three Rs—Relief, Review, and Recovery—requires an end to the genocidal attacks on innocent civilians and infrastructure.

He urged the international community to increase pressure on Israel and its apartheid government to halt the violent attacks on civilians, allow Palestinians to rebuild their economy with international support, and permit Palestinian workers to resume employment in Israel.

Bangladesh aligned itself with statements made on behalf of the majority of ASPAG countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Expressing deep concern over significant job losses in Gaza and the West Bank, Hossain highlighted a 66% reduction in jobs and an 85% decrease in employment in Gaza, as well as a 40% decrease in employment in the West Bank.

He underscored the detrimental impact of the illegal war on the Palestinian economy, affecting labor market governance institutions, labor administration, social protection, and social dialogue.

Bangladesh expressed gratitude to donors and partner countries for their contributions to the ILO's Development Cooperation Program. Hossain also expressed appreciation for the ILO's three-phase program prioritizing Relief, Review, and Recovery, initially allocated with an internal budget of 1.4 million.

He emphasized the urgent need for employment-intensive infrastructure projects and suitable job opportunities for the families of Palestinians who lost their lives or became disabled.

Bangladesh reaffirmed its recognition of Palestine as a state and condemned Israel for its genocidal attacks on unarmed Palestinian civilians, including women and children, and its targeting of civilian infrastructure. Bangladesh strongly condemned Israel's flagrant violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws.
