Reports reveal that a fresh pirate faction from Somalia has assumed control of the hijacked Bangladeshi vessel, MV Abdullah.

The ship's position shifted on Friday afternoon, following its initial anchoring. Previously, it had been stationed 20 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia. Notably, members of the previous pirate group disembarked from the ship on Thursday, making way for a new group armed with heavy weaponry to take over and alter the vessel's location.

This new faction reportedly includes an interpreter proficient in English. As of Thursday, there had been no communication from the pirates regarding ransom demands or negotiations with the ship's owners. However, it is speculated that they may soon initiate contact and propose a ransom through intermediaries.

Mizanul Islam, media consultant for the KSRM Group, confirmed the developments, stating that MV Abdullah had indeed shifted its position around 3:30 pm on Thursday. Despite the lack of direct communication, assurances were given that the crew members remained safe.

The ordeal began on Tuesday, March 12, when Somali pirates hijacked MV Abdullah, which was transporting 23 crew members in the Indian Ocean. Since then, family members of the sailors have been enduring anxious moments, unable to establish contact with their loved ones.
