Dhaka, Aug 22 (V7N) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has warned that the misuse of artificial intelligence (AI) poses a major challenge ahead of the upcoming national elections, as fabricated and misleading videos continue to circulate on social media.
In a video message released Thursday on the Election Commission’s official YouTube channel, the CEC urged citizens to exercise caution when encountering such content.
“Any video should be verified before believing it. It should not be shared immediately after receiving it—verification is essential,” Nasir Uddin said.
He emphasized that tackling the spread of AI-generated misinformation requires collective responsibility. “Everyone must remain vigilant to prevent the misuse of AI. We must fight against it. Each of us has a role to play in delivering accurate information to the people,” he said.
The Election Commissioner expressed optimism that with public unity and awareness, Bangladesh will be able to hold a free, fair and impartial election despite the challenges posed by emerging digital threats.
