Today marks the 104th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, celebrated across Bangladesh as National Children's Day. Born on March 17, 1920, in Tungipara of Gopalganj district, Bangabandhu remains the revered architect of independent Bangladesh and the undisputed leader of Bengalis.

To commemorate this auspicious day, the national flag will be hoisted in all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private institutions, as well as educational institutions nationwide, including Bangladesh missions abroad.

In honor of Bangabandhu's birthday and National Children's Day, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay tribute by laying wreaths at Bangabandhu's mausoleum in Tungipara. Both leaders have also issued messages on this significant occasion.

The Awami League has organized various programs to celebrate Bangabandhu's birthday, including the hoisting of national and party flags at Bangabandhu Bhavan, central office, and all organization offices nationwide. A tribute will be paid to the portrait of Bangabandhu at the historical Bangabandhu Bhavan premises, followed by a gathering of national leaders led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to pay respects at his tomb. Additionally, milad and doa mahfil and children's gatherings will be held to honor the occasion.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's illustrious political career began in 1940, and he played pivotal roles in various movements advocating for the rights of the Bengali nation. From the language movement of 1952 to the declaration of independence on March 26, 1971, under his visionary leadership, Bangladesh achieved its much-desired victory and independence after nine months of bloody war.

Bangabandhu's legacy continues to inspire generations, symbolizing courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to justice and freedom. His contributions to the nation's history remain etched in the hearts of millions, guiding Bangladesh towards progress and prosperity.
