Dhaka, Oct 16 (V7N) — Education Advisor Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar (C.R. Abrar) has said that this year’s HSC and equivalent examination results have exposed the real crisis in the education sector, which had long been masked by artificially good results.
He made these remarks at a press conference held at the Ministry of Education on Thursday (October 16).
“The Ministry of Education cannot avoid responsibility for these results in any way,” said Prof. Abrar. “I see the outcome as an opportunity for self-criticism. We will review and find out why the results were poor.”
Earlier in the day, the results of the HSC and equivalent exams were officially published. This year, the average pass rate stood at 58.83 percent, while 69,097 students achieved GPA-5.
Last year, the average pass rate was 77.78 percent, marking a decline of about 19 percentage points, and the number of students securing GPA-5 decreased by nearly 78,000 compared to 2024.
