Tangail, Jan 25 (V7N) — Interim government Education Advisor Professor Dr. C. R. Abrar on Sunday stressed the importance of protesting against injustice, while also urging people not to tolerate or condone injustice in any form.
He made the remarks while speaking at a Gunijan Sammanna (Esteemed Personalities Award) programme held at Nagbari Hasina Chowdhury High School in Kalihati Upazila of Tangail on Sunday afternoon. The event was presided over by former Foreign Minister Abul Hasan Chowdhury.
In his speech, Professor Abrar said that people often encounter small injustices in everyday life, and if these are ignored or accepted for personal convenience, society gradually becomes desensitized to larger injustices.
“If we nurture and condone minor injustices thinking they do not affect us, over time we will learn to accept even major injustices,” he said.
Highlighting the importance of rights, the education advisor said the sense of rights is fundamental to human dignity. He noted that people have struggled for their rights throughout history, citing resistance movements dating back to the era of Spartacus.
Among others, Abul Kashem Chowdhury, son of former President Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Khairul Islam, and several distinguished guests also spoke at the programme.
Later, renowned poet Bulbul Khan Mahbub and Md. Afroz Hossain Siddiqui, the founding headmaster of Hasina Chowdhury High School, were honored with lifetime achievement awards in recognition of their contributions.
