Dhaka, Oct 23 (V7N) – Following the stance of BNP and NCP, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has also raised concerns over the impartiality of several advisers in the interim government and the neutrality of the administration. Jamaat leaders claim that 70–80 percent of government officials are aligned with a particular political party, and some advisers show bias toward that party. They urged the Chief Adviser to transfer loyal officials to ensure free and fair elections.

On Wednesday, Jamaat representatives met Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna, where they highlighted their concerns. According to the Chief Adviser’s press wing, Dr. Yunus reassured the party about the government’s neutrality and stated that he would personally oversee any administrative transfers before the election.

After the meeting, Jamaat’s deputy Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher told reporters that concerns existed about the neutrality of certain advisers, though he did not name them. He said, “On the first day, we raised the issue but did not demand immediate removal. We are giving time; if no action is taken, we will consider the necessary steps.” He added that some advisers might mislead the Chief Adviser, but Jamaat has full confidence in Dr. Yunus.

Dr. Taher claimed that 70–80 percent of secretariat officials and 65 percent of the judiciary are influenced by a single party, implying a skewed administrative balance. He also raised issues regarding the Election Commission and police, saying officials face severe pressure from the same political faction. Jamaat emphasized that the interim government should act as a neutral caretaker while ensuring a level playing field for all parties.

The party also discussed the implementation of the July Accord through a nationwide referendum. Unlike BNP, which prefers a combined schedule of the referendum and general election, Jamaat supports holding the referendum by November. Dr. Taher stressed the need to grant constitutional recognition to the July Accord via an official order, noting that it currently exists as an extra-constitutional arrangement formed during the people’s uprising.

Jamaat’s delegation included Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General A.T.M. Mashum, and Rafiqur Islam Khan. Government advisers Wahiduddin Mahmud, Asif Najrul, and Adilur Rahman Shuvo were present during the discussions. The Chief Adviser assured the party that he would carefully review the legal framework before any decisions regarding the implementation of the July Accord or administrative arrangements.

The meeting reflects ongoing negotiations between political parties and the interim government to ensure neutrality and prepare for fair national elections, with particular focus on the July Accord and administrative impartiality.
