Magura, Oct 24 (V7N) — Chief Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said that the Awami League will not be able to participate in the upcoming national election.
He made the remarks while speaking to reporters during a visit to the July Movement Martyrs’ Memorial at Nabhanga Park in Magura on Friday (October 24) morning.
The Press Secretary stated that all political parties have reached a consensus to hold the next national election in February, adding that there is no external or internal pressure on the government regarding the polls.
“The most beautiful election in the nation’s history will be held this time,” Shafiqul Alam said confidently.
Commenting on the decision not to include a ‘no-vote’ option in the Representation of the People Order (RPO), he explained that voters will still have the right to reject a candidate by abstaining from voting.
