Dhaka, Oct 28 (V7N)- Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has expressed optimism that most illegal weapons will be recovered before the upcoming national elections.

He made the remarks on Tuesday morning (October 28) while inaugurating the transport service of the Ansar and Village Defence Trust in Dhaka.

The advisor said that law enforcement agencies are continuously conducting drives to recover illegal arms and that the operation will continue until the election period.

Highlighting Ansar’s crucial role in maintaining election security, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said,

“Ansar will have the largest deployment during the polls, with 13 members stationed at each center. For the first time, an Ansar member will also be assigned to ensure the security of the presiding officer.”

He further expressed confidence that the Ansar battalion will play a key role in ensuring free, fair, and peaceful elections across the country.
