Dhaka, Nov 03 (V7N)- Housing and Public Works Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan has said that the government is placing strong emphasis not only on enforcing laws to reduce the risk of building-related disasters, but also on enhancing professional skills, applying earthquake-resistant technology, and ensuring the quality of construction materials.
He made these remarks at a seminar on earthquake and fire risk mitigation awareness, held at a five-star hotel in the capital on Monday (November 3) morning.
Adilur Rahman Khan stated that if these four factors—legal enforcement, skilled professionals, resilient technology, and quality materials—are ensured during the construction and approval of buildings, then “every future structure will be safe and environmentally friendly.”
At the seminar, RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md. Riazul Islam proposed the establishment of an Urban Disaster Lab to promote the construction of safe and sustainable buildings.
Participating engineers and consultants stressed the need for quality design, proper approval processes, and strict construction supervision, adding that consultants must be held accountable for safety compliance.
