Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) — Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Dr. Mohammad Abdul Momen has emphasized the need to clearly define the responsibilities of parliamentarians and establish specific standards for their work.
He made the remarks at an event organized by the Citizen Platform in the capital on Sunday. Dr. Momen said that without defined duties, MPs given unchecked authority could commit irregularities.
The ACC Chairman also criticized the shifting dynamics between politicians and bureaucrats. He noted that, traditionally, politicians approached bureaucrats, but now bureaucrats are going to politicians, bowing down and saying, “I am yours.”
In addition, Dr. Momen called for vigilance to ensure the independence of the judiciary, warning that it should not be used as a tool to exercise uncontrolled power.
