Dhaka, Feb 05 (V7N) — Legendary singer, guitarist, and music director Ayub Bachchu and renowned actress Farida Akter Babita are among ten individuals selected to receive the Ekushey Padak-2026, the country’s second highest civilian award.

The announcement was made by Principal Advisor’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

This year’s awardees include:

  • Farida Akter Babita – Film

  • Professor Dr. Mohammad Abdus Sattar – Fine Arts

  • Marina Tabassum – Architecture

  • Ayub Bachchu (posthumous) – Music

  • Warphase – Band Music

  • Islam Uddin Palakar – Drama

  • Shafiq Rehman – Journalism

  • Professor Mahbubul Alam Majumder – Education

  • Tejas Halder Jos – Sculpture

  • Arthi Ahmed – Dance

Among them, Ayub Bachchu is being honored posthumously. The celebrated musician passed away on October 18, 2018, leaving behind a legacy that reshaped Bangladeshi music.
