Dhaka, Feb 14 (V7N) — The Chief Adviser to the Interim Government has congratulated Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman for the party’s performance in the 13th National Parliament elections, commending its leadership and political conduct throughout the electoral process.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing on Saturday (February 14), the message thanked Dr. Rahman for ensuring active and widespread participation of Jamaat candidates under his leadership. The Chief Adviser noted that the party accepted the election results calmly and respectfully after a competitive contest.

He said Jamaat-e-Islami’s restraint, responsible public statements, and calls for peaceful behavior from the campaign period through the post-result phase played a significant role in maintaining stability across the country.

The Chief Adviser also expressed special appreciation for the constructive support, advice, and cooperation provided by the party to the Interim Government during its tenure.

Highlighting the broader national context, he said Bangladesh is passing through a crucial period with challenges and opportunities in the global economy, technological transformation, climate change, human resource development, and social justice. In this context, he stressed that a principled and responsible role from both government and opposition is essential to strengthen democracy and institutions.

He expressed hope that under Dr. Rahman’s leadership, Jamaat-e-Islami would act as a constructive and responsible opposition force in parliament and the wider political arena, contributing to policy debates, legislative consultations, and ensuring accountability.

Emphasizing national unity as a key strength, the Chief Adviser voiced confidence that the Jamaat Ameer would continue to play a positive role in consolidating unity in the days ahead. He also prayed for Dr. Rahman’s good health and well-being.

Election Results

In the 13th National Parliament elections, Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats. Its alliance partner, the National Citizens Party (NCP), secured 6 seats, while Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis won 2 seats and Khelafat Majlis obtained 1 seat.
