Dhaka, Feb 16 (V7N) — Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan has said the official residence of the incoming prime minister will be determined according to his or her preference, in consultation with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

He made the remarks while briefing newly appointed ministers at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday (February 16). He said a final decision on the prime minister’s residence will be taken after discussions with the party, adding, “It will be as they want.”

Residences for Ministers Ready

The adviser said 37 houses have so far been prepared for ministers and state ministers in Mintu Road, Dhanmondi, and Gulshan. Additional residences will be arranged if necessary, and all preparations are expected to be completed before the oath-taking.

Remarks on Government Performance and Reforms

Adilur Rahman said the current administration assumed office following a mass uprising and has spent the past 18 months working in the public interest. He added that efforts were made to steer the country toward a new trajectory after what he described as years of authoritarian rule, emphasizing accountability to citizens.

Regarding corruption allegations, he said questions should be directed to Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) about its report, arguing that public perception may differ from such assessments. He noted that reform initiatives have been launched in several sectors, while some remain incomplete but are expected to progress.
