Savar, Feb 18 (V7N) — Newly appointed State Minister for Finance and Planning Jonayed Saki has said that the struggle for democracy in Bangladesh has continued since independence, emphasizing that the nation remains morally bound by the sacrifices of martyrs.
He made the remarks on Wednesday (February 18) after paying tribute at the National Martyrs' Memorial.
Saki stated that martyrs shed their blood and sacrificed their lives for democratic rights, and the nation carries a responsibility to honor that legacy. He described the pursuit of democratic transformation as the central political commitment of the present time.
Referring to the fight against authoritarianism, the state minister said a clear declaration has already been made to pursue democratic reforms. He added that implementing the necessary reforms is both a duty to the martyrs and an obligation to the people, with the goal of building a Bangladesh that reflects public aspirations.
