President Mohammed Shahabuddin recently accepted the credentials of Joao Ribeiro de Almeida from Portugal and Abdulrahman Mohammed AlGaoud from Bahrain, who are the newly appointed non-resident ambassadors to Bangladesh.

During the reception, President Shahabuddin expressed Bangladesh's commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations with countries across the globe. He emphasized the significance of enhancing trade, investment, and diplomatic ties in the current global landscape.

Acknowledging the potential in various sectors of Bangladesh's economy, such as the readymade garments (RMG), medicine, ceramics, leather, and leather goods industries, the President encouraged the envoys to explore opportunities for mutual growth and cooperation.

In response, the ambassadors of Portugal and Bahrain commended Bangladesh's socio-economic progress and recognized the valuable contributions of Bangladeshi workers to the development of their respective countries.

They expressed their eagerness to fulfill their diplomatic responsibilities effectively in Bangladesh and sought the President's full cooperation in this regard.

The reception ceremony at Bangabhaban included a guard of honor by the horse-mounted President Guard Regiment (PGR) upon the envoys' arrival, adding ceremonial significance to the occasion.

Secretaries from the President's office and senior officials from the Foreign Ministry attended the event to extend their support and cooperation to the newly appointed ambassadors.
