This night, the nation will commemorate the holy Shab-e-Qadr, also called Lailatul Qadr (the Night of Decree), on which Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) received the first revelations of the holy Quran.
 
The Muslim faithful will spend the night praying, reciting verses from the holy Quran, performing zikr and other religious rites, and pleading with the Almighty Allah for prosperity, long life, and peace for themselves, their loved ones, and the Muslim Ummah as a whole. 
 
Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television, and private television stations are running special programming stressing the significance of the Lailatul Qadr, newspapers wrote special islamic stories on the occasion. 
 
The holy Quran states that this night is superior than a thousand nights because, with Allah's permission and according to all of His decrees, angels and spirits descend into it.
 
One of the holiest and most fortunate nights of the whole 10-day Ramadan is expected to fall on an odd-numbered night, which is most likely the 27th of the holy month. 
 
On nights like these, devotees typically go to cemeteries in order to pray for the afterlife to grant their loved ones' spirits eternal peace. 
 
Muslims view the whole month of Ramadan as a time for spiritual preparation. In addition to fasting, they spend their time in prayer, giving alms, and memorising the Quran.
 
In honour of the holy Shab-e-Qadr this evening, Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will host a Doa-Mahfil and debate.
 
After Maghrib prayer at 6:45 PM, Doa Mahfil and discussion on "Importance and Significance of Holy Shabbat Qadr" was held at Islamic Foundation.
 
Secretary of Religion Muhammad Abdul Hamid Jamaddar was the chief guest on the occasion.
