During the third Foreign Office Consultations between Bangladesh and Bhutan, Bangladesh urged Bhutan to take steps to rejoin the Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicles Agreement (MVA) framework, aimed at enhancing regional prosperity through increased people-to-people interactions.

The consultations, held in Thimphu, also addressed the issue of Sustainable Development Fees (SDF) for tourists, with Bangladesh requesting Bhutan to reduce the current SDF for Bangladeshi tourists. The Bhutanese side assured positive consideration of this request.

Both delegations agreed to collaborate on enhancing tourism and fostering people-to-people contacts, emphasizing various sectors for cooperation such as trade, commerce, health, investment, connectivity, power, energy, tourism, culture, and education.

The discussions also focused on expediting the implementation of decisions and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) signed during a recent visit by His Majesty the King of Bhutan to Bangladesh.
