During a gathering at the National Assembly Meeting-2024 organized by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Simeen Hussain (Rimi), underscored the government's commitment to achieving gender equality and eliminating discrimination against women.

Highlighting ongoing initiatives, Minister Rimi emphasized the government's endeavor to recognize women's domestic work within the GDP, acknowledging its economic significance. She emphasized the transformative changes witnessed in the status of women, attributing it to women-friendly policies implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina since 2008.

Minister Rimi applauded the substantial contributions of women in various sectors, both domestically and internationally, underscoring their role in information technology, research, sports, and entertainment. She emphasized the government's proactive measures to address issues affecting women's welfare, citing legislative actions such as the Prevention of Women and Child Abuse Act 2020, Dowry Prevention Act 2018, and Child Marriage Prevention Act 2017.

Furthermore, Minister Rimi highlighted the significance of the Digital Security Act 2018 in safeguarding women against cyberbullying on online platforms. These measures reflect the government's holistic approach towards enhancing women's empowerment and ensuring their safety and well-being in society.
