The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs has raised concerns about escalating conflicts between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army near the Teknaf border of Bangladesh. The committee, during a recent meeting, expressed apprehension that such tensions could intensify by May, potentially leading to an influx of Rohingya community members and Border Guard Police (BGP) from Myanmar into Bangladesh. Additionally, the committee report emphasized various border-related challenges, including the need to address illegal entries from Myanmar nationals, enhance security along vulnerable land and sea borders, prevent the illicit smuggling of rations intended for Rohingyas, and mitigate the risk of criminal groups acquiring firearms during border conflicts.
