Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar, forty more Border Guard Police (BGP) personnel from Myanmar have escaped to Bangladesh.
The ongoing conflict in Myanmar led to these BGP members escaped Myanmar to bangladesh with arms and ammunition through the Naf river in Teknaf morning.
Several other members of Myanmar's Border Guard Force (BGP) took refuge in Bangladesh through three points of the Naf river at the Teknaf border in Cox's Bazar Bangladesh on Saturday 4 May morning.
According to local sources, 40 individuals were reportedly seen fleeing through three different points of Naf river.
The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) disarmed them and took them into custody. They have been kept at Hnila High School.
Director General of the Myanmar Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miah Md Mainul Kabir, said Myanmar’s conflict is still ongoing. As a result of this, the BGP members have fled through the Naf River in Teknaf and entered Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.
Earlier, the government sent back 618 members of various security forces of Myanmar, who had taken shelter in Bangladesh in recent weeks, to their own country in two times.
On April 25, Bangladesh repatriated 288 BGP and army personnel who had taken refuge in Bangladesh.
