Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal announced that the law enforcement agencies of both Bangladesh and India have identified all individuals involved in the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

"There is no information yet suggesting involvement of anyone from India in this murder," Kamal stated during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Thursday afternoon.

The minister emphasized the gravity of the situation, saying, "The murder of a member of parliament is a serious concern for the government. We are being cautious not to disclose details that could compromise the investigation. While ongoing inquiries are examining potential links to India, no official statement can be made until the body is recovered."

In related updates, the Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chief, Additional Commissioner Harunor Rashid, revealed that the plan to kill MP Anwarul Azim Anar was devised in Dhaka two to three months ago. Due to police surveillance in Dhaka, the murder was carried out in Kolkata instead.

Rashid mentioned that efforts are underway to recover the MP's body. “The Kolkata and Bangladesh police are working jointly on this case. If not the entire body, hopefully, some parts will be recovered,” he said.

MP Anwarul Azim Anar reportedly crossed the Darshana-Gede border into India for treatment on May 12 and went to his friend Gopal Biswas’s home in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. He left the following day to see a doctor and was expected to return by evening. Instead, he went to Delhi and sent a WhatsApp message to Biswas, indicating he would call if necessary. Anar subsequently went missing, and his death was confirmed by Indian police on Wednesday.
