President Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) office to ensure the transparent and accountable use of public funds. This directive came as a three-member delegation, led by CAG Md Nurul Islam, presented an audit and accounts report to the President at Bangabhaban.
President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin stated that the President emphasized the importance of auditing to verify the proper use of public funds, especially as Bangladesh's budget and development programs expand. The President directed the CAG to update all audits and resolve outstanding audit objections.
During the meeting, the CAG provided an overview of their recent work, including 45 compliance audit reports, two utility account reports, and two financial account reports. They also discussed measures regarding government employee salaries, pensions, and other benefits.
