Pabna June11,(V7N)- Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin has urged business leaders to harness the existing potential of various sectors, including agriculture and industry, in Pabna, highlighting the region's traditional and commercial prospects. He also called for steps to create employment and foster entrepreneurship.
On the third day of his visit to Pabna, on Tuesday, June 11, President made this call while exchanging views with representatives of the Pabna Chamber of Commerce at the Pabna Circuit House.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin stated that despite the global recession caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine conflicts, Bangladesh's economy remains active due to the government's timely and bold decisions and the cooperation of businesspeople.
Press Secretary to the President, Md. Zainal Abedin, reported that during the meeting, Saiful Alam Swapan Chowdhury, President of the Pabna Chamber of Commerce, presented their activities and various aspects of Pabna's trade and commerce.
Senior Vice President of the Pabna Chamber, Ali Murtoza Biswas Sony, gave the welcome address. The event was conducted by Pabna's Deputy Commissioner, Md. Asaduzzaman.
Vice President of the Pabna Chamber, Forkan Reza Biswas, and directors Habibur Rahman Habib, ABM Fazlur Rahman, Ruhul Amin Biswas Rana, Zahid Hossain Jamim, Abdul Hannan, and Jahangir Hossain were present at the meeting.
Addressing the business leaders, President said the government takes the advice of businesspeople seriously when formulating trade and investment policies. He assured that the government would always support businesses that operate within the legal framework.
The President expressed his hope that businesses would conduct their activities in compliance with regulations. He emphasized the importance of preventing unethical activities by overly profit-driven businesses to avoid causing public distress.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin noted that the government has already proposed a budget of nearly Tk 8 lakh corros. He expressed his hope that businesspeople would provide full cooperation in implementing this budget.
Secretaries to the President were also present at the meeting.
