General Waker-Uz-Zaman took over as the new chief of the Bangladesh Army on Sunday for a three-year term. His extensive career includes key command, staff, and instructional roles. He succeeds General SM Shafiuddin Ahmed and previously served as the Chief of General Staff.

An alumnus of the Bangladesh Military Academy, General Waker brings over three decades of experience, including UN peacekeeping missions. He holds advanced degrees from National University of Bangladesh and King’s College, University of London.
