Mongla, July 5 (V7N)- In an effort to increase self-employment among women in Mongla, laptops were distributed as a smart gift from the Prime Minister. Organized by the Department of Information and Communication Technology, an event was held on Thursday afternoon in the upazila auditorium where 80 women received these laptops. 
 
After completing 2 months and 15 days of training, these income-supporting laptops were handed over by the chief guest, local MP Habibun Nahar. Also present at the event were Upazila Chairman Abu Taher Howladar, Upazila Vice Chairpersons Kamrun Nahar Hai and Jamal Hossain, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Tariqul Islam, Upazila ICT Officer Soumitra Biswas, and Chandpai UP Chairman Molya Tariqul Islam.
 
Upazila ICT Officer Soumitra Biswas stated that under the High Power Project of the Department of Information and Communication Technology, 80 women were given laptops in the second phase to increase self-employment. Before the laptop distribution, they received two and a half months of training. Previously, 25 women were given laptops. 
 
He mentioned that a total of 185 women will receive these laptops under the High Power Project. He also added that if the project period is extended, more women will be provided with laptops along with training to enhance their self-employment.
