Dhaka, July 17 (V7N) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) reported on Wednesday that 12 policemen, including an inspector, were injured in attacks by quota protesters while on duty in various areas of Dhaka over the past few days.
 
The injured officers include Inspector (Investigation) Anisur Rahman from Banani Police Station, Shah Miraj Uddin, In-Charge of Mohakhali Police Outpost, Sub Inspectors (SIs) Al Mamun and Saiful Islam from Rupnagar Police Station, Constables Tanvir, Mahmudul Islam, Mahin Islam Nasim from POM South Division, Constables Muktar and Murad from POM North Division, Constables Md Hasan Ali and Rashed from Mohakhali Police Outpost, and Constable Abdul Latif from Traffic Gulshan Division.
 
Jahangir Kabir, assistant commissioner (media) of the DMP, stated that some of the injured officers are currently receiving treatment at hospitals, including Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital.
 
He noted that the quota protesters had blocked several key areas, including Dhaka University's TSC, Doel Chattar, Central Shaheed Minar, Shahbag, Science Lab, New Market, Mohakhali, Mirpur, Badda, Rampura, and Banani.
 
In addition to the police officers, at least 25 journalists were attacked by the quota protesters in Dhaka, Kabir added.
