Khulna, July 31 (V7N) — In a dramatic turn of events today, 23 students were apprehended by police during a "March for Justice" rally aimed at protesting recent student fatalities across the nation. The arrests occurred around 12:30 pm as the students attempted to march through the Royal and Mylapota intersections in Khulna.

During the operation, police conducted a thorough city-wide search and were seen inspecting mobile phones. While several students were detained, authorities have yet to provide a specific count of those held.

In a related incident, a group of students sought refuge in Ahsanullah College to evade the police. They locked themselves inside, but the police eventually forced entry and arrested them.

Tensions escalated after 1:30 pm when Chhatra League leaders and activists took to the streets from Dalmil intersection wielding sticks. The police, mistaking them for troublemakers, pursued the group, leading to heightened tensions in the area. Another Chhatra League procession later emerged from Sherebangla Road, moving towards Saat Street.

By 2 pm, a new group of protesting students gathered at Royal Square, facing off with the police as the confrontation continued.
