Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the son of Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Information and Communication Technology advisor, has called on the military and law enforcement agencies to ensure that no unelected government comes to power, even for a minute.
In a video message posted on Facebook an hour ago, he stated that the current demand is for the fall of the government. He questioned what would happen after the fall of the government, asking if anyone has thought about it.
Referring to the Supreme Court's cancellation of the caretaker government system, he said, "If we accept the demand for the fall of the government now, what will happen? They will not accept elections under this government."
He wrote, "Would Bangladesh have come this far without Sheikh Hasina today? Fine. What will happen to you after Sheikh Hasina is not my concern. Power cannot be taken by force through violence. Terrorism can only be combated in one way. This can no longer be tolerated."
He further wrote, "I call upon you, it is your responsibility to keep the people of the country safe and to protect the Constitution. This means that no unelected government should be allowed to come to power even for a minute."
