UN, Aug 06 (V7N) - The United Nations is advocating for a peaceful and democratic transition in Bangladesh, emphasizing the need for all authorities—political, military, and otherwise—to cooperate in ensuring stability.

At a briefing in New York on August 5, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq stated that the organization is closely monitoring the evolving situation. “We are in touch with regional and local authorities and are calling for calm and restraint,” Haq said.

The UN urges respect for peaceful assembly and expression and calls on security forces to protect demonstrators. It emphasizes the need for a transparent investigation into recent violence and stands in solidarity with the Bangladeshi people, advocating for the full respect of their democratic and human rights.
