Dhaka, Aug 06 (V7N) — Sohel Rana, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Bangladesh Police, has addressed recent concerns regarding police conduct and leadership. In a statement released on Tuesday, Rana emphasized that the issue lies with the current leadership rather than the police force itself.

Rana assured that legal action will be taken against those responsible for the deaths of students and civilians, expressing confidence that the new government will ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and held accountable.

"The problem is with the leadership, not the police force. The guilty will be punished. I urge everyone not to target innocent police officers," Rana stated.

He described the Bangladesh Police as "seemingly leaderless," with suspects evading arrest and junior officers lacking clear direction. "Under these circumstances, I call for support to safeguard this vital state institution. I believe the administrative system and police leadership will soon become more active," he added.

Rana also appealed to the public to avoid damaging police and state resources.
