Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus has been appointed to head the interim government.

President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin confirmed the appointment on Tuesday.

This decision was reached during a meeting between President Shahabuddin and the coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Abedin also stated that the remaining members of the interim government would be finalized after consultations with various political parties.

Earlier, a 13-member delegation from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement visited Bangabhaban to discuss the current situation in Bangladesh and the framework for the interim government.

They arrived at Bangabhaban at 6 pm on Tuesday to meet with the president and the chiefs of the three armed forces.
