Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus returned to the country on Thursday, from Paris, the capital of France, to take charge as interim government chief as Bangladesh goes through an unprecedented crisis following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.

He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:10pm.

In consideration of Dr Yunus's return to the country, preparations have been made for the swearing-in ceremony of the interim government at Bangabhaban at around 8pm.

Dr Yunus was welcomed at the airport by the Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman and others.

At a press conference on Wednesday, General Waker said that the interim government might consist of around 15 members.

It is not known who will be included in this government. There is a lot of discussion in the political arena about the list of names. Another topic of discussion is how long this government will last.

It is known that the Students Against Discrimination has prepared a list of 15 names for the interim government.

The list will be finalized after discussions with Dr Yunus.
