The oath-taking ceremony of the interim government led by Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus is underway.
The ceremony started at 9pm on Thursday at Bangabhaban.
Dr Yunus reached the Bangabhaban premises around 8:25pm. He was greeted by the crowd waiting outside the Bangabhaban, who cheered and chanted slogans upon his arrival. Thousands of enthusiastic people gathered in front of the Bangabhaban from the afternoon.
BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Mosharraf Hossain, Amir Khosru, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, Amanullah Aman, Barrister Kayser Kamal, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Khairul Kabir Khokon, Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Tabith Awal, and Mizanur Rahman Minu, are present.
Diplomats from UK, Japan, China, Philippines, Iran, Argentina, Qatar, The Netherlands and UAE are present as well.
He will take oath as the head of the interim government as Bangladesh goes through an unprecedented crisis following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government.
Earlier, Dr Yunus arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 2:10pm.
Dr Yunus was welcomed at the airport by the Chief of Army Staff General Waker-uz-Zaman and others.
The Nobel laureate met with the chief of the armed forces, civil society members and student leaders at Dhaka airport.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the meeting decided the names of the other advisors who will join Dr Yunus in the interim government.

These names include Dr Salehuddin Ahmed, Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, Dhaka University Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam (Asif Nazrul), Adilur Rahman Khan, AF Hassan Ariff, Md Touhid Hossain, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Supradip Chakma, Farida Akhter, Bidhan Ranjan Roy, Sharmeen Murshid, AFM Khalid Hossain, Farooq e Azam, Nurjahan Begum, Nahid Islam, and Asif Mahmud.
At a press conference on Wednesday, General Waker said that the interim government might consist of around 15 members.
