Dhaka, August 13  — After a 24-day suspension, local, mail, and commuter rail services have resumed across Bangladesh as of Tuesday morning. However, inter-city trains, which are vital for long-distance travel, remain suspended and are expected to resume in stages starting Thursday.

Rail services were halted due to disruptions, but freight trains had already begun operating on Monday. The resumption of local trains marks the first step in restoring normal rail operations across the country.

On Sunday, the Bangladesh Railways announced that inter-city train services would gradually resume from August 15, with ticket sales for these services starting on August 12 at 5 pm. However, the Parabat and Jamalpur Express trains will remain temporarily out of service.

The status of the Bangladesh-India rail movement is still undecided, with further announcements expected in the coming days. The phased reopening of inter-city services is being closely monitored as authorities aim to ensure a smooth transition back to regular operations.
