A petition has been submitted to place former Law Minister Anisul Huq and ex-Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's adviser Salman F Rahman under a 10-day remand in connection with a murder case linked to the deaths of a student and a vendor during protests near Dhaka College.

The hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka.

The General Registration Branch of Mirpur Police Station confirmed this to the court.

However, the two accused have not yet been presented in court.

Earlier on Tuesday, they were arrested by law enforcement officers at Sadarghat.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Moinul Hasan confirmed their arrest to the media, stating they were detained concerning a case filed under New Market Police Station.

The incident occurred on July 16 during a clash near Dhaka College amid student protests against quota reforms, leading to the deaths of a student and a vendor.
