During a series of raids at Dhaka College, students and the college administration uncovered a large cache of indigenous weapons in various dormitories. The raids, which are ongoing, have so far led to the seizure of machetes, hockey sticks, clubs, pipes, rods, helmets, alcohol, and other weapons from the rooms of leaders and activists associated with the Chhatra League's college unit.
The searches began on Saturday morning and have continued across seven dormitories, including North, International, and Shaheed Farhad Hossain, located in the college's residential area. Reports from the scene indicate that teachers, dormitory supervisors, and students are all involved in the operation. So far, more than 200 rods and steel pipes, over 40 machetes, knives, cleavers, a large hammer, and 30 bottles of liquor have been recovered.
Moinul Islam, coordinator of the Dhaka College branch of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, stated that the weapons were discovered in the rooms of Chhatra League leaders by general students. The college administration is also concerned about the situation, prompting the ongoing raids in the presence of students and media. The recovered weapons are expected to be handed over to the New Market Police Station.
