Interim government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus emphasized the critical role of youth and students in shaping the future of the Global South during the inaugural “Leaders’ Session” of the third “Voice of Global South Summit” on Saturday. Speaking virtually from Dhaka, Prof Yunus highlighted the potential of the younger generation to drive revolutionary change and urged leaders to incorporate their creativity and energy into global strategies.

Prof Yunus, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, called for a redesign of education and financial systems to better support the entrepreneurial spirit of young people. He also proposed that countries in the Global South collaborate to unleash the creativity of the youth through social business initiatives, which could address environmental and social challenges.

The summit, hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focuses on empowering the Global South for a sustainable future. Prof Yunus invited leaders to work together to create social businesses and to support the aspirations of the younger generation, whose creativity and commitment are key to achieving lasting change.
