A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, former local lawmaker Shamim Osman, and 45 others, accusing them of involvement in the killing of a youth during the August 5 clash in Narayanganj.

The victim's elder brother, Abul Bashar, filed the case on Saturday night, confirmed by Narayanganj Sadar Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Sattar.

Abul Hasan, a 20-year-old sales representative for a soft drink company, was from the Kushiyara area in Bandar upazila of the district.

The other accused include former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former State Minister for Information and Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, former Jatiya Party MP Selim Osman, Shamim Osman's nephew Azmeri Osman, Ayon Osman, Shamim Osman's brother-in-law Tanveer Ahmed, and Narayanganj City Corporation's panel mayor and Awami League leader Abdul Karim, among others.

Nearly 200 unnamed individuals were also included in the case.

According to the case statement, Abul Hasan was shot and killed on August 5 at around 1:30 pm in the Missionpara area of the city. The complaint alleges that Hasan was killed by Ayon Osman under the direction of Sheikh Hasina and other accused, as part of a broader violent clash between protesters and Awami League leaders and workers.

On August 5, just hours before Hasina announced her resignation, Abul Hasan was shot during ongoing clashes in the Chashara area. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following morning.
