Dhaka, Aug 20 (V7N) - An early morning operation to locate former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain proved unsuccessful, according to officials on Tuesday.

Acting on information that Hossain was hiding in a residence, police and upazila administration conducted a one-hour search operation in Shibpur village, Mujibnagar.

The operation, which took place between 3 am and 4 am, was spearheaded by Mujibnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Khairul Islam and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Saiful Alam of Mujibnagar police station.

Earlier, a large group led by Meherpur District Jubo Dal Joint General Secretary Huzaifa Deklar, along with hundreds of locals, surrounded the house after receiving information that Hossain was present there late Monday night.

Upon the police's arrival, they encountered resistance from the occupants, who insisted that the gate would only be opened in the presence of the UNO and army personnel. The search commenced following UNO Khairul Islam's arrival.

Despite a thorough search, the former minister was not found, officials confirmed.

OC Saiful Alam noted that Farhad Hossain is currently facing charges under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
