Dhaka, August 22 — In response to the escalating flood situation across the country, the Fire Service and Civil Defense have launched a dedicated hotline to assist those trapped in water due to heavy rains and rising water levels. The centralized monitoring cell, established at the Directorate, began its operations at 5 pm on Wednesday.

According to a message from the Fire Service's media cell, individuals in need of rescue or other flood-related services can reach out through the hotline number 102. Additionally, the central control room's regular phone number, 02223355555, will remain open for assistance. For continuous communication with the monitoring cell, the mobile number 01713-038181 has also been provided. Moreover, services can be accessed through the National Emergency Service by dialing 999.

The monitoring cell, along with fire stations in flood-affected areas and departmental control rooms, is offering 24-hour disaster rescue services to support those impacted by the floods.

The flood situation has significantly worsened in eight districts, including Feni, Noakhali, Brahmanbaria, and Comilla. Extensive flooding has affected villages in Brahmanbaria, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, and Noakhali, leaving thousands of people stranded. In Feni, more than 150 villages in Parshuram, Phulgazi, and Chagalnaya upazilas have been inundated by the third round of floods. The waters of the Muhuri, Kahua, and Ceylonia rivers are flowing 180 cm above the danger level at Parashuram Point, causing breaches in 24 sections of the dam and allowing water to flood localities.

Residents in these areas are urged to utilize the newly established hotline numbers for immediate assistance as the situation continues to evolve.
