"A mortar shell fired from Myanmar accidentally hit Badsha Mia's kitchen in the Jalpaitli area of Ward No. 4 of Ghumdhum Union."

A Bangladeshi woman and a Rohingya worker were killed by scattered mortar shells fired from Myanmar at Jalpaitli on the Ghumdhum border of Naikhyongchari Upazila of Bandarban. A child was injured. This incident happened on February 5 ( Monday) two o'clock in the afternoon.

According to locals, a mortar shell fired from Myanmar accidentally hit Badsha Mia's kitchen in the Jalpaitli area of Ward No. 4 of Ghumdhum Union. At that time, Badsha Mia's wife Hosne Ara Hasu (50) and Rohingya worker Nabi Hossain were working at their own house. Rohingya laborer Nabi Hossain(70) died on the spot when a morter shell hit them.

Badshah Mia's wife Hosne Ara Hasu was taken to Kutupalong NGO Hospital in Ukhiya, where the doctor on duty declared her dead. The deceased Hosne Ara Hasu is the wife of Badsha Mia of Jalpaitli area, and the deceased Rohingya laborer Nabi Hossain (70) is the son of Dhulu Hossain of Balukhali Camp-8 East' D Block of Ukhiya, confirmed the deceased's wife Hajera Khatun.
Inspector Mahfuz Imtiaz Bhuiyan, in-charge of Ghumdhum Investigation Center , visited the spot and made an autopsy, he said.
