Dhaka, August 26 – A violent clash broke out on Sunday night between ordinary Ansar members demanding job stabilization and anti-discrimination students in Dhaka, resulting in hundreds of injuries on both sides. Following the confrontation, Ansar members fled the secretariat, only to be pursued by the students. Law enforcement authorities later arrested over four hundred Ansar members, including two women, from the area around the secretariat.

The detained Ansar members were taken to various police stations across Dhaka, including Shahbagh, Ramna, Paltan, and Motijheel. According to police sources, a case may be filed against them at Shahbagh Police Station. The arrested members were transported to different stations in police vans.

Around 2 a.m., it was observed that Ansar members participating in the movement had taken refuge inside the secretariat to avoid further clashes with the students. They were subsequently brought out and made to stand on the road, surrounded by army personnel for their safety.

Earlier, around 11:30 p.m., a senior officer from the Ansar Guard Battalion came under attack from students while attempting to leave the secretariat in a car. Members of the Bangladesh Army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) intervened, rescuing the officer and escorting him back into the secretariat, where he remained until late into the night.

Dr. Sarwar, Deputy Commissioner of the Ramna Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed that over four hundred protesting Ansar members have been taken into custody. "Further decisions regarding them will be communicated," he said.

Police sources indicate that operations were conducted to arrest Ansar members involved in creating unrest in the Paltan, Shahbagh, and surrounding areas. Several members were reportedly apprehended from these locations. It is expected that multiple cases will be filed in connection with the incident as investigations continue.
