Dhaka, August 28 — Dr. Asif Nazrul, Adviser on Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs, expressed his hope that renowned cricketer Shakib Al Hasan would not face arrest, drawing a comparison to the case of former footballer Aminul Islam, who was jailed despite his contributions to Bangladesh's sports legacy.

Speaking to journalists at his office in the Secretariat on Wednesday, Dr. Asif Nazrul addressed concerns over a murder case filed against Shakib Al Hasan. The case has garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally. Dr. Nazrul questioned whether the current government had acknowledged the situation, noting that the origins of such legal issues date back to the Awami League's tenure.

"Shakib Al Hasan has not brought anything for the state of Bangladesh; rather, he has achieved personal success," Dr. Nazrul stated. "On the other hand, footballer Aminul brought numerous honors to Bangladesh, even captaining the national team. Yet, despite his contributions, Aminul was jailed. In Shakib's case, there is only a pending case."

Dr. Nazrul clarified that while the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the police administration, a filed case does not necessarily result in an arrest.
