Dhaka, September 03- The interim government has cancelled the contractual appointments of 24 officials, including Bangladeshi ambassadors posted in Germany, Iraq, and Japan. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Tuesday, cancelling the remaining period of their contracts.

Among those affected by this decision are key figures such as Syed Zahurul Islam, Project Director of the Sheikh Hasina Institute of Frontier Technology; Syed Belal Hossain, Additional Secretary of the President's Office; and Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Bangladesh Ambassador to Germany. Other notable officials include Fazlul Bari, Bangladesh Ambassador to Iraq; Ashok Kumar Debnath, Additional Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat; Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, Commissioner of the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission; and Syeda Sarwar Jahan, Chairman of the Bangladesh Rubber Board.

The list also includes Aftab Uddin Talukder, Project Director of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited; Manchurul Alam, Project Director of the Export Competitiveness for Jobs Project; Mohsina Yasmin, Member of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority; and Zubaida Nasreen, Secretary of the Information Commission.

Additionally, the government has terminated the contracts of other officials, such as Kamruzzaman, Director General of the Bangladesh National Museum; Shahabuddin Ahmad, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan; GSM Zafrullah, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority; and Sarwar Mahmud, Chairman of the National River Protection Commission.

This sweeping action follows the swearing-in of the interim government on August 8, after the fall of the Awami League government during a student uprising on August 5. The new government is systematically cancelling all contractual appointments made during the Awami League administration and has initiated extensive reshuffles across various sectors, including the police and administration.

The decision to revoke these appointments reflects the interim government's intention to restructure and reset the administrative framework in light of the recent political changes.
