Dhaka, Sep 05 (V7N) — Lutfe Siddiqui, a prominent figure with extensive experience in global financial management, has been appointed as the Special Envoy on International Affairs by the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. The appointment was officially confirmed by the Cabinet Department on Wednesday.

Siddiqui, who formerly served as the Managing Director of the International Association of Investment Managers at the CFA Institute, will now take on the role of representing Bangladesh in international matters. During his tenure, he will hold the rank of an adviser and will receive corresponding salary and benefits, according to the official notification.

Lutfe Siddiqui's impressive background includes his role as the Managing Director of Regions and Society Relations at the CFA Institute. He is also a visiting professor at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore. Siddiqui's academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Econometrics from the University of York and a Master’s degree in Economics from LSE.

The interim government has been making key appointments since its formation. Siddiqui’s appointment follows that of Mahfuz Alam, coordinator of the Liaison Committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, who was appointed as a special assistant to the chief adviser on August 28. Prior to this, on August 24, Lieutenant General (retd.) Abdul Hafeez was also appointed as a special assistant to Dr. Yunus with the rank and privileges of an adviser.

These appointments signal the interim government’s efforts to bring experienced individuals into advisory roles to guide the country through its transition period following the student-led uprising.
