Dhaka, Sep 09 (V7N) – The government is set to honour the martyrs of the July uprising on September 14, according to a disclosure made during a preparatory meeting on Monday.

Md Nahid Islam, Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Adviser, announced that a commemorative event will be organized in memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the students-people uprising. He emphasized that the government would extend the highest honour to the martyrs' families during the event.

Nahid Islam also stressed the importance of highlighting key elements such as “Bangla Blockade,” “Complete Shutdown,” and “Long March to Dhaka” in the commemoration, as these were pivotal moments that fueled the mass movement. He added that the event will be designed to evoke the spirit of the July uprising.

Islam will serve as the focal point for the commemorative event.

During the meeting, Assistant Professor of Jagannath University Mohammad Zahidul Haque shared his input on various aspects of the program’s design. Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Dr Md Mushfiqur Rahman and senior officials from the ministry were also in attendance.
