Khagrachari, Sep 10 (V7N) - Hasnat Abdullah, the central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has alleged that the country’s economy has been completely devastated under the fascist regime, with more than 11 trillion taka being siphoned off abroad.

He further stated that the movement, which began in July-August, will persist until the state undergoes reconstruction and reform. An interim government should remain in place until an independent Election Commission is established, capable of earning the trust of all political parties, and until the judicial system, parliament, and constitution are reformed based on fairness.

These comments were made on Monday afternoon (September 9) during a student-citizen dialogue held at Khagrachari Town Hall, which focused on corruption, extortion, and terrorism. Central leaders, including Chittagong coordinator Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, were present. The central leaders visited Khagrachari as part of their nationwide public opinion campaign.

Hasnat Abdullah also mentioned that fascist supporters are still embedded in various state institutions, and called on these institutions to serve the people rather than power. Referring to Sheikh Hasina as the "master" of the system, he remarked that while she has been removed from Ganabhaban and sent across the border, her associates still remain close by.

He further stressed the need for an interim government until public trust in state institutions is restored, justice is ensured at all levels, and a free and impartial Election Commission is created. He warned that those who intend to exploit the student uprising to continue extortion, terrorism, and syndicate activities will not be given any opportunity to do so.

Earlier, a conflict broke out among the students at the start of the meeting. After more than 30 minutes of disorder and fighting, law enforcement officials arrived to restore order, allowing Hasnat Abdullah to deliver his speech.
