Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N) – A high-level delegation from the United States, headed by Brent Neiman, Deputy Under Secretary of the US Department of Revenue, has arrived in Dhaka for discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation. This is the first US delegation visit since the Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus took over as the interim head of government.

Upon arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday, the delegation was welcomed by Khandaker Masudul Alam, Director General of the Americas Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During this visit, the discussions will primarily focus on financial and economic cooperation between the two nations. Additionally, the talks are expected to cover multi-dimensional aspects of US-Bangladesh relations. On the first day, the delegation will engage with a group of Bangladeshi business leaders, with the main meetings scheduled for Sunday.

On Sunday, members of the delegation will hold courtesy meetings with Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, and Finance and Trade Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed. The US delegation will also attend a lunch meeting with Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin, followed by a key meeting between Brent Neiman and Ahsan Mansoor, the Governor of Bangladesh Bank.

The six-member US delegation includes notable figures such as Donald Lu, Deputy Assistant Administrator of USAID Anjali Kaur, and Assistant US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch.

Foreign Secretary Md. Jasim Uddin remarked that he would refrain from making any premature comments before the discussions begin, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the normal flow of dialogue. He highlighted that this visit is a testament to the strong ties between the two nations and the priority placed by the US on Bangladesh.

Earlier in the week, the US State Department confirmed the delegation's visit, stressing Washington's commitment to helping Bangladesh’s interim government foster economic growth, financial stability, and development.
